Everywhere you look, people are loud.
They talk to fill the gaps.
They post to prove they exist.
They confuse volume with value.
I am convinced, I am getting older. Because I find myself going more and more inside myself. More and more talking less and less. But it was not always like this…trust me. I used to be loud. Louder than most. Trying to be seen. Trying to prove I mattered. Anyone like that? Just me? Okay!
The world rewards noise — or so it seems.
The louder someone is, the more attention they get.
But not necessarily the more wisdom.
You see it in boardrooms, online, even at coffee shops.
Everyone’s rushing to speak, to yell, to sell, to sound smart.
Few are actually listening.
Silence used to be a sign of depth.
Now people mistake it for weakness. Now we feel the need to break the silence.
But silence is where the real thinking happens.
It’s the space between reactions — the place where perspective grows.
There’s a kind of strength in not needing to say everything.
In pausing before replying.
In letting someone else run out of words while you stay still. I like that power. I like that discipline.
And sometimes silence isn’t just the absence of sound — it’s a decision.
A choice to step away.
When my mind or surroundings get too loud. I can feel it bubbling, creating tension. When that happens, I like to get into my Slingshot and drive out into the countryside. Something about wind, roaring engine, pavement, scenes of open fields and farm land does it for me.
Some people put on headphones and hit the golf range,
not to escape life —
but to remember how to hear themselves again.
When the noise stops, the mind settles.
And when the mind settles, truth shows up.
Most people miss it because they’re too busy performing.
They never learn that silence is power.
It reveals what’s real.
It sharpens what’s dull.
It reminds you that peace is a choice, not a luxury.
The next time the world gets loud —
don’t compete with it. Don’t give it power. Don’t feed it.
Step back and go quiet.
You’re not weird, you’re just wise.
You’ll find more clarity in five minutes of silence
than in five hours of talking.
I promise!
